Indigestion

The term indigestion is used to describe chronic or recurrent upper abdominal pain, or feeling full earlier than expected when eating.

It can also be accompanied by bloating, belching, nausea, or heartburn. It is frequently due to gastro-oesophaegeal reflux, gastritis, or dyscoordination of stomach movements. Rarely it may be the first symptom of ulcer or occasionally cancer. Unexplained newonset symptoms in adults, or at any age when severe or alarming symptoms are present, may require further investigations.
