Your specialists for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver disorders
Our Services
Auckland Gastroenterology Associates is New Zealand’s leading Gastroenterology and Hepatology group practice offering comprehensive consultative and endoscopy services.
Consultations
On receipt of a referral from your GP or specialist we will endeavour to provide an appointment at a mutually convenient time with one of our Gastroenterologists. Waiting times range from 1-2 weeks depending on urgency, which is assessed from the referral; letter we receive and the availability of a particular gastroenterologist. Before coming to our clinic, you may be asked to undergo tests such as blood tests or stool tests. Consultations last 30-60 minutes.
Gastroscopy
This procedure allows the doctor to examine the lining of your oesophagus, stomach and the first part of your small intestine (duodenum) and to take samples.
ERCP
Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography (ERCP) examines the health of the drainage routes of your gallbladder, pancreas and liver.
Wireless Capsule Endoscopy
This new and minimally invasive procedure allows us to view the entire small intestine.
Colonoscopy
This is the optimal way to screen for bowel cancer and detect and remove polyps.
24-hour Oesophageal pH-impedance study
Diagnosis of acid reflux can be difficult. Gastroscopy is the key test but an Oesophageal study is normal too, even when there are significant symptoms.
Liver Biopsy
This is the best way to establish the type and extent of liver disease. We take a small piece of liver tissue and send it to a laboratory to be examined.
